Everything started in July 2024. Madison began complaining about severe pain in her leg. At first, we thought it was just growing pains, something common for kids her age. But the pain kept getting worse. We took Madison to an orthopedic specialist, who initially said it was inflammation in her Achilles tendon. She started physical therapy and took the prescribed medications, but nothing helped. The pain never went away. We decided to run more tests, and on October 12, 2024, we received the news that changed our lives forever: Madison was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare and extremely aggressive type of bone cancer that needs to be treated as quickly as possible.

From that moment on, we began an exhausting fight to save our daughter’s life. We spent nine long months in and out of the hospital. Madison went through 14 rounds of intense chemotherapy and a delicate surgery to remove part of her fibula and the soft tissue in her leg. After all that suffering, the scans showed no signs of cancer. We went back home full of hope, believing that Madison was finally cancer-free. But in May 2026, our worst nightmare came back. Madison started having pain again in the same leg. We were terrified and ran new tests. Unfortunately, the cancer had returned — and this time, it wasn’t just in her leg. Tumors had spread to her lungs. We began another round of hospital stays, but this time, conventional chemotherapy was no longer working. The doctors were very honest with us: when Ewing sarcoma becomes resistant to standard treatment, the only option with real chances of working is an advanced therapy called Kymriah, a next-generation immunotherapy. The problem is the devastating cost. With hospitalization, ICU care, and supportive treatment, the total comes to around $600,000.

We tried everything to get coverage through our health insurance, but our request was denied. The insurance company said the treatment was too expensive and refused to authorize it. We filed an appeal, but even then, the denial was upheld.

💔 Now we are desperate. Madison’s case is extremely serious. The cancer is spreading fast, and she needs to start this treatment as soon as possible. If she doesn’t, she may not survive.

I am an elementary school teacher, and my husband works doing odd jobs and handyman work around town, helping with home repairs and small services whenever he can. We are just a regular family living in a small town in Salem, Missouri, and there is no way we can afford a cost like this on our own.
